Cinema Manager

The Cinema Manager is a full-time position, reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Artistic Director. The Cinema Manager is in charge of all aspects of the day-to-day supervision of our new cinema. The Cinema Manager will bring a passion for film and a community spirit to the job. They will lead cinema operations to ensure and meet customer needs. They will instigate efficient operations which are focused on fair people management and excellent operating procedure. Your most important duty will be to make sure that every customer comes away from the cinema with a big smile on their face.

The Cinema manager is responsible for performing the following duties:  

  • Ensure that the cinema comply with health and safety legislations; recruiting, training, managing and appraising staff.

  • Manage all aspects of cinema operations including Box Office, Kiosks, Concessions, Retail, Café, Lounges, Ushering and Projection. Provide coverage and assistance in the areas of concessions, box office, café and other guest service responsibilities as needed

  • Managing budgets.

  • Ensure effective, preventive maintenance programmes are carried out for all cinemas

  • Ensure that programmes schedules run on time. Manage and operate all video screens and boards with accurate communications 

  • Monitor through chief projectionist excellent presentation and filming screening standards.

  • Supervise shipping and receiving of films and DCP’s, 

  • Liaise with marketing staff in the preparation of advertising and marketing plans and ensure full support from operations. 

  • Managing daily cash intake and ticket revenue, keeping financial and statistical data and reporting this data to distributors and stake holders.

  • Making sure that excellent customer service is provided; dealing with customer inquiries and complaints.

  • Managing screening room, cinema rentals and private hire

  • Working together with the services to ensure that housekeeping and security standards are obeyed. Overseeing cleaning and maintenance of cinema.

  • Recruiting, training and managing staff, setting shift rotas.

  • Motivating all staff to do their best in performing their duties; evaluating the performance of the cinema staff; and ensuring that operating and accounting procedures and standards are obeyed. Ensures staffing levels and management coverage is appropriate to meet the needs of the business and maximize the guest experience. 

  • Receive reports on all relevant events for the information of the Senior Management.

  • Support special screenings, premieres, fundraising and other events on and off site. Ensure and facilitate the execution of private events.

  • Re-stocking and monitoring of concessions and café

  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.


  • a High School diploma or equivalent

  • Experience of leading and managing a team

  • Technical knowledge of projection and audio systems

  • Excellent business and IT skills with the ability to learn and train others in the use of new technologies. Ability to use computers with both off the shelf and custom written software. 

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Effective analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.

  • Holds self-accountable to high personal standards of conduct and professionalism. 

  • Respect for individuals (guests, vendors, and employees).

While performing the duties of this position, the team member will regularly be required to: 

  • Work days, nights, and/or weekends as required. 

  • Work in noisy, fast paced environment with distracting conditions.

Salary: Commensurate with experience + benefits.

Administrative Assistant

Administrative Assistant:

We are looking for a recent graduate, hard-working multi-tasker who loves cinema.  Candidates should be able to assist management by handling office tasks, communications, coordinating events and education projects, providing polite and professional assistance via phone, mail, and e-mail, and generally being a helpful and positive presence in the workplace.  You will be supporting our programming and will be responsible for shipping and tracking films, sending out press releases and updating schedules. 


The Administrative Assistant will report to the Executive Director and will perform tasks for the Artistic Director and Cinema Manager as well.


Administrative Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Creative communications – website, social media , newsletter 

  • Meeting coordination-Taking minutes at staff meetings and board meetings

  • Provide real-time scheduling support.

  • Track shipping of films

  • Handling office tasks, such as filing, book-keeping, generating reports and presentations, setting up meetings, distributing information and reordering supplies.

  • Greet and assist visitors and provide friendly customer service

  • Keep a calendar of cinema and community events

  • Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail.

  • Manage guest lists, special screenings, event invitations


Administrative Assistant Requirements:

Theater Staff

Theatre Staff:

Sag Harbor Cinema is looking for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented work environment. We pride ourselves on maintaining a fun, inviting atmosphere for our customers and workers alike.


Responsibilities Include: 

  • Providing excellent customer service skills in a fast-paced environment

  • Selling movie tickets and concession items in a fast-paced environment

  • Preparation of hot foods such as popcorn 

  • Properly handling cash, accepting credit/debit card payments, and making change

  • Maintaining cleanliness of movie theaters, concession areas, and lobbies

  • Stocking and restocking concession items when necessary


Basic Requirements/Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must possess strong customer service skills

  • Mathematical skills

  • Must be able to work opening, weekend, and some holiday shifts

  • Cashier experience preferred

Salary: $13.00 /hour
