Cinema Manager

The Cinema Manager is a full-time position, reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Artistic Director. The Cinema Manager is in charge of all aspects of the day-to-day supervision of our new cinema. The Cinema Manager will bring a passion for film and a community spirit to the job. They will lead cinema operations to ensure and meet customer needs. They will instigate efficient operations which are focused on fair people management and excellent operating procedure. Your most important duty will be to make sure that every customer comes away from the cinema with a big smile on their face.

Duties
The Cinema manager is responsible for performing the following duties:  

  • Ensure that the cinema comply with health and safety legislations; recruiting, training, managing and appraising staff.

  • Manage all aspects of cinema operations including Box Office, Kiosks, Concessions, Retail, Café, Lounges, Ushering and Projection. Provide coverage and assistance in the areas of concessions, box office, café and other guest service responsibilities as needed

  • Managing budgets.

  • Ensure effective, preventive maintenance programmes are carried out for all cinemas

  • Ensure that programmes schedules run on time. Manage and operate all video screens and boards with accurate communications 

  • Monitor through chief projectionist excellent presentation and filming screening standards.

  • Supervise shipping and receiving of films and DCP’s, 

  • Liaise with marketing staff in the preparation of advertising and marketing plans and ensure full support from operations. 

  • Managing daily cash intake and ticket revenue, keeping financial and statistical data and reporting this data to distributors and stake holders.

  • Making sure that excellent customer service is provided; dealing with customer inquiries and complaints.

  • Managing screening room, cinema rentals and private hire

  • Working together with the services to ensure that housekeeping and security standards are obeyed. Overseeing cleaning and maintenance of cinema.

  • Recruiting, training and managing staff, setting shift rotas.

  • Motivating all staff to do their best in performing their duties; evaluating the performance of the cinema staff; and ensuring that operating and accounting procedures and standards are obeyed. Ensures staffing levels and management coverage is appropriate to meet the needs of the business and maximize the guest experience. 

  • Receive reports on all relevant events for the information of the Senior Management.

  • Support special screenings, premieres, fundraising and other events on and off site. Ensure and facilitate the execution of private events.

  • Re-stocking and monitoring of concessions and café

  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

  • a High School diploma or equivalent

  • Experience of leading and managing a team

  • Technical knowledge of projection and audio systems

  • Excellent business and IT skills with the ability to learn and train others in the use of new technologies. Ability to use computers with both off the shelf and custom written software. 

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Effective analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.

  • Holds self-accountable to high personal standards of conduct and professionalism. 

  • Respect for individuals (guests, vendors, and employees). 

  • Friendly,‘can-do’attitude 

While performing the duties of this position, the team member will regularly be required to: 

  • Work days, nights, and/or weekends as required. 

  • Work in noisy, fast paced environment with distracting conditions.

  • Work under pressure 

  • Move about facility and stand for long periods of time. 

Salary: Commensurate with experience + benefits. 

Hours: Full Time and Flexible shifts.

Digital Media Specialist

We are seeking a highly-motivated creative individual with marketing experience and love of film to join our team. You will be an integral part of a small start-up working to build awareness and fuel membership. You will be responsible for developing and implementing our Social Media strategy in order to increase our online presence and improve our marketing and sales efforts. 

 

Job Description

  • Develop, implement and manage our social media strategy and content

  • Define most important social media KPIs

  • Measure the success of every social media campaign

  • Work closely and collaboratively with executive team

  • Communicate with industry professionals and influencers via social media to create a strong network

  • Create and source visuals and graphics that identify our unique offering and brand

What do we require from you? 

  • A passion for film beyond the multi-plex

  • Creative, self-starter

  • Strong communication and presentation skills. BA degree in Marketing, Communications or related field 

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in digital marketing.

  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.

  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and execute digital marketing campaigns.

  • Strong analytic and quantitative skills.

  • Thinks strategically but stays on top of tactical execution.

  • Exceptional verbal and written skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Docs.

  • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+ and other social media best practices

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and management of partnerships including film institutions, festivals, arts organizations, and supported devices/platforms

  • Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics

  • Familiarity with CRM systems

  • Some familiarity with web design, publishing and Illustrator

  • Photoshop and video editing skills (ideally experience with Adobe Premiere)

  • Use social media marketing tools such as Buffer or similar

 

Salary: Salary is competitive within the non-profit arts industry and commensurate with qualification and experience. Benefits package includes health, and paid time off.
