How Art Saved (and continues to save) an Island
Get ready for a truly transformational presentation by one of the most brilliant minds today!
Zita Cobb is the creator of Shorefast, and the mysterious edifice you see above, center, is the Fogo Island Inn. Zita created the Inn with the people she grew up with to house people who had never been to Fogo, and to save her failing community with the help of art, film, and an innovative architect, Todd Saunders. She is a true economic philosopher, and has made a huge difference to everyone's lives on Fogo Island. Zita’s talk will be about art, film, culture, economics, sustainability, and impact.
Ms. Cobb believes in the ability of film, art, and culture to define and to save a place.
"Shorefast Foundation and Fogo Island Inn continue to believe that art and film have key roles to play in telling our stories and preserving traditional knowledge and culture.”
